Development is a capitalist perspective. Often it becomes an obscenity and an injustice. Care and well-being is the right perspective. It is important that justice and morality prevail. The goal of social life is to bring peace and happiness to all human beings. Progress is how close a community is to that goal.
Many say progress should not be imposed. That’s right, don’t impose progress.
Progress is not imposed. Nothing that can be imposed is progress.
Religion and belief can be imposed on an individual or a community. Because they never have a progressive face and mind. People accept religion and belief without question. Religion and faith do not encourage questions.
Development and progress are not like that. They are always questioned.
When it comes to a road, the question naturally arises as to why this road is here now. When it comes to an institution, the question naturally arises as to why this institution is here and now. So it is only when the question arises and the debate about it arises that one realizes that there is democracy. Without democracy there is no question and no answer.
From a capitalist point of view, development should not be questioned either. The government implements it and the people accept it. That is what is happening in capitalist development. It is a necessity to be questioned in the development and progress of democracy. In a democracy, questions and discussions are never unnecessary. In an authoritarian system there are no questions and no discussions.
When a dictatorial country bans banknotes overnight it is not discussed with the people, not discussed in parliament, not discussed with economists. Even the Reserve Bank of India, which regulates financial transactions in India, was unaware of this. Prohibition of notes is a matter of authoritarian capitalism. No need for questions and discussions there.
K Rail is not a dictatorial development model. It is a promise that the Left Front will implement in its manifesto. Every vote cast for the Left is in favor of K Rail. It is the responsibility of the Left Front to implement the promise made to the people. The common man here believes that the Left Front has the will and the will to carry out that responsibility. The Left government will be able to protect that trust without breaking it.
The protests and struggles against K Rail should not be considered as a mistake. We have said at the outset that protests and discussions are never unnecessary in a democracy.
The K Rail protests discuss significant environmental issues and social impact. That is a good social change.
It should be seen as a progressive event that those who scoffed that environmentalists would come up with the flag even if Seemakonna is cut down are now at the forefront of the struggle citing environmental issues and social impact. The progressive aspect is that we have been able to cultivate environmental and social awareness in them.
It is a great thing that the capitalist media is prepared to openly say that when one kilogram of cement is used, half a kilogram of carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. They do not remember that what they are saying now will be a setback for capitalism itself. Although they say so out of blind anti-communism, it is to the detriment of capitalist institutions and their development perspectives.
Anti-K Rail activists admit that 60% of agricultural land in Kerala was lost due to capitalist development perspective. They are also now talking about the plight of evictees. The fact is that the anti-K Rail activists will have to be prepared, though, to remember those who have lost farmland and housing due to several major projects, including the Bhakranangal project.
The benefit is that the anti-K rail protests and struggles will bring Kerala to a higher environmental awareness and higher social perspective. The advantage is that the anti-K rail struggles create an opportunity to create more awareness among the people that development needs to be discussed and that development projects should not be carried out without any discussion.
The Left took up the challenge of surviving the current protests and struggles and implementing the plan. With the implementation of this plan, the Left will gain more acceptance in India. The success of the K Rail project will also help to dispel the misconception that the Left is anti-development. The success of this project will also expose the hypocritical developmentalism of the right wing. It also provides an opportunity for this country to realize that it is in India's interest to abandon right-wing dictatorial development policies and adopt a democratic democratic development policy.
K Rail is not just for Kerala. K Rail and K Phone are a great start to lead India on the revolutionary path of democratic popular development. Succeeding at them is the need of the hour. The achievement of the Left is that the Left government was able to undertake that historic mission.
